Frequently asked questions
Everything about playing and organizing pickup soccer on OpenPitch.
Do I need an account to play?
No. Browse games, pick one, and reserve your spot as a guest. You only need an account if you want to organize sessions or manage a field.
How does a game get confirmed?
Every session has a minimum number of players. The game is confirmed as soon as that minimum is reached. If it is not reached in time, the session is cancelled and anyone who paid is refunded — so nobody drives to an empty field.
What does it cost?
OpenPitch is free during the beta. When an organizer charges for a session, the price per player is set by that organizer and shown on the session page before you commit.
How do I organize a game?
Sign in and you can start organizing immediately — there is no application or approval step. Pick a pitch, set the date, format, and your minimum and maximum player counts, and share the link.
The field I use isn't listed. Can I add it?
Yes. You can add a pitch while creating your session, without waiting. It joins the public catalogue once an admin has reviewed it, so every organizer benefits from it afterwards.
What formats can I run?
5v5, 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11, indoor or outdoor. You can also mark a session as a training session and set a gender preference if that fits your group.
I run a facility. How do I list my fields?
Apply through the field manager portal. Once approved, you publish the time blocks you have available, and organizers send you booking requests that you approve or decline.
Where does OpenPitch operate?
Rochester, New York. We are starting in one city on purpose — a pickup platform is only useful when there are enough games nearby to pick from.
